RAISING THE BAR ON LEADERSHIP

I’m sitting in a budget hotel in Nepal, Nargakot where the Leadership Matters course is being held. There are 32 mission workers and pastors most working in Nepal but they are from 11 different nations. I am grateful for your prayers and support as together we have the opportunity to equip these mission leaders and pastors to strengthen the local churches in Katmandu and in a widespread area of rural Nepal, India and Indonesia.

It was interesting that in my quiet time this morning I was reading Psalm 135 which begins by encouraging us to praise the Lord for He is good. It goes on in vs 15 to talk about the futility of worshiping idols. Idols which are made of silver and wood made by men.

Here in Nepal, we are surrounded by idolatry as this is a predominantly Hindu nation with Buddhism being next. On the way to the venue we passed so many Hindu worship shrines and I felt the heavy sadness of the lostness of these people. They are very friendly but very ‘closed’ to the gospel.

Which is why it is a privilege for me to be able, along with the training team to build into the leadership of local missionaries who work to plant churches, develop education based on Christian life and to support the work of the local church. We have also been able to give skills and confidence to the pastors who are here. Funnily enough there are four pastors from Myanmar which considering we had three at our NZ course is an encouragement to me to continue to explore taking our NZ course to Myanmar maybe next year.

I would also ask you to pray for my health. Generally it is very good, however, I have a blocked left ear and it has been blocked for five days. It makes it very hard to hear the responses of the class and when I’m at the table group to hear them clearly. It makes life very tiring for me. I’ve had to resort to antibiotics today but would love the Lord to heal me so that I can work without restriction.

Thank you for your faithful support of the mission. Your prayers are totally important for the success of what we do.

Blessings
Rex
