RAISING THE BAR ON LEADERSHIP

Booth Broadcast Sep 2019

Dear ***FIRST_NAME***

Exciting news; Our son Jeremy and his wife Sakura have had their first child, born on Sept 24th which is Jeremy and Sakura’s wedding anniversary. Their baby is a girl whose name is Kayla. She is very cute taking after her paternal grandpa ! Sakura had complications after the birth with extreme blood loss. Praise the Lord that prayers were answered and she has pulled through. It has however left her and Jeremy pretty exhausted.

On the home front

The Bridge Builders course at Connect Baptist went well with good participation.

I have been busy keeping up with the supervisions. Also I’ve been involved in a consultation with Papakura Baptist Church helping their Elders develop a Position Result Description for their incoming pastor. I’ve also been asked to be involved as a facilitator to work through a conflict issue with a couple of pastors. So far I’m pleased with how the two are prepared to work on the underlying issues. There is still more to b e done so please pray for us.

Tonight, I’ll be doing a consultation with Elders from a New Life Church around delegations for staff. Quite looking forward to it.

The ITA Curriculum committee I head up has had its first Skype meeting. There are four others on the team so far. They are mission workers from Zambia, South Africa, and two in the USA. Donald Trump was a bit busy to help out. I have also been asked to be involved at some point with reconfiguring the Leadership Matters course for Christian and Missionary Alliance pastors in Canada. Not sure how that will evolve but with what we do here in NZ, I may be able to have a positive input.

I have held the first two public meetings of the Church plant for Drury. We had 15 adults and 2 teenagers come. Our second meeting was at Auranga development where we spent an hour and a half prayer walking the first stage of the development.

Coming up

Next Wednesday I leave for Nepal. I will be the Trainer Coach for the course with responsibility for helping the newer trainers especially in growing as trainers for LMC courses. I’ll also be working on some of the workshops myself so it will be a busy time. My mate Roger from Australia will be leading and he and I work very well together and have a good friendship. It was nice though to see that Aussie lost a game in the Rugby. One of the OM participants has gone missing and other OM participants may be withdrawn from coming. Please pray this person and their companion will be found and the others will come. We have a big group from Pakistan.

On the home front

Tim is doing super well at university getting top student in some of his classes. We are so proud of how he is getting stuck into his degree and how Aimee is supporting him.

Rachel, Jonny and Caleb are doing well and Caleb turns 2 on the 14th of October. I can’t believe it really. It has gone so fast. Rachel sent us a wee video of Caleb dribbling a football around the back yard. He’s taking after his grandpa – I’ll have to buy him a Tottenham Hotspurs kit.

Yvonne is finally getting some family funded care for her work with Hannah. In fact Hannah is Yvonne’s boss. There are still teething troubles but we are pleased at least the funding has come through.

Our camper van holiday had its interesting moments especially when the gas ran out on night one and left us on the edge of a very cold lake Taupo with no heating. I solved it by getting Yvonne and Hannah to run around the van to get warm then huddle near me. Surprisingly they reneged the next night. Later in Rotorua, we had the excitement of having the front wheel of the van drop into a soak hole. 3 hours later a tractor pulled us out. Not my fault!!! Just saying. Apart from that we enjoyed the break although Hannah just wanted to go home.

Prayer Praise points:

  • Bridge Builders going well.
  • Family Funded Care now a reality.
  • Kayla’s birth and Sakura’s safety.
  • Tim’s studies going well.
  • Good start to the church

Prayer requests:

  • Sakura’s continued recovery.
  • A safe trip to Nepal
  • Participant being found alive and well.
  • Protection and peace for Yvonne and Hannah while I’m away.
  • Success for the various consultations.

Every blessing

Rex, Yvonne, Rachel, Jonny and Caleb, Jeremy, Sakura and Kayla, Tim & Aimee & Hannah.
