RAISING THE BAR ON LEADERSHIP

Booth Broadcast March 2024

Dear ***FIRST_NAME***

When I was a boy the year seemed to take forever to pass. Now I’m a bit older the year seems to be racing by and this year is no exception with Easter a couple of weeks away. In that lead up to Easter, I’m reading through the Gospel of John again. This morning as I read I rejoiced in Jesus’ words that He is the bread that came down from Heaven bringing food for life. Chapter 6:51 “I am the living bread that came down from heaven, if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forwever, and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” How wonderful it is that through Jesus work on the cross we will live with Him forever. What a saviour we have!

On the work front

I have begun doing supervision again this year and have 17 people I am working with. Most are pastors while one is a consultant engineer and one a school Principal. It is an area I thoroughly enjoy.

I have just returned from several days in Palmerston North working with a group called Interface whose mission is in mobilising the church to be on mission with God every day. I have been helping them develop some workshops to deliver to churches. I am hoping too that an outcome of the workshops is that churches will do the Bridge Builders course as part of the equipping of their people to be on mission with God.

There are three possible Bridge Builders courses being considered which don’t come from these workshops. Please pray that they come to fruition.

I will be preaching at a Presbyterian church on Easter Sunday. Pray I get the message clear.

We are working on getting people onto this years Caleb Leadership Course which is being held in Christchurch. So far, we have one registered, two others saying they will and two Nigerians applying for visas to come. Please pray we get many to Kiwi’s to register to give a good number for the course. We are also hoping some Australian pastors from Brisbane might come with our Aussie trainer as we prepare for our course there late this year.

I am continuing to do the one-on-one management training for the Blenheim veterinarian. I am also starting one-on-one training of a business guy who attended our course last year but missed the management section as he got pneumonia and had to go home. Not my fault by the way.

International Training Alliance: I turned down leading a course in Ghana this coming May because of the need to be here in NZ while our house is being rebuilt from the fire.

On the home front

Progress with the rebuild of our house after the damage caused by the fire is minimal. We have a draft scope of works but are waiting for final drawings of the roof structure which is a complex job. The project manager is beginning getting quotes from builders, electricians and plumbers so that he can choose who will do the job once we get the nod from council. As the scope of works has not been finalised, the submission to council is still a couple of weeks away. We had hoped too that the interior walls would be repainted and new carpet down after water and smoke damage. However, it looks like we lost that fight as the chemical treatment they are doing is ‘said’ to be good for the job.

On the upside, a third of the ceilings in the house will be replaced so we are grateful for that.
Yvonne, Hanah and I are coping pretty well. We do have our down days. When we go home to do garden work, Hannah always tries to get back into the house. We sometimes let her go into the family room for a short while as the smoke smell is not pleasant or healthy. We do so appreciate all your prayers as it keeps us content in our circumstance.

I have had a nasty cold and cough but getting much better. Hannah now has it and is slowly coming right.

Prayer Praise points:

  • Christmas with the family went really well especially as Rachel and family got to stay with us in the rental.
  • My work car finally got the panel work done and a repaint.
  • Ada has an appointment with the paediatrician.
  • The supervisions have started again well.

Prayer requests:

  • The architects will get the final drawings done.
  • Our submission will get to council soon and go through quickly.
  • The potential Bridge Builders courses will come to pass.
  • Many pastors will sign up for the leadership course.
  • The Nigerian’s will easily get their visas and be able to attend.
  • Some Australian pastors will come.
  • Hannah will be healed quickly.

We are so grateful for your faithful support. May you have a rich and spiritually refreshing time over Easter.

Every blessing
Rex, Yvonne, Rachel, Jonny, Caleb & Ada, Jeremy, Sakura, Kayla & Chloe, Tim & Aimee & Hannah.
