Happy New Year. Yvonne and I hope you had a good break over Christmas and spent some relaxed time with family and friends. We pray that the Lord will guide you through the year and be a mighty presence in your life. A book I’m currently reading talks about living each moment with God. The author says that we get so ‘busy’ we push through in our own strength and forget about seeing the moment as a moment with God allowing Him to infuse us with all we need and to bring His peace, beauty and perspective into our lives. As I start this year, I’m challenged to try to be aware of God with me all the time. Like the author I struggle not to ‘go it alone’ pushing through all that needs doing. However, I’m working on it inviting God to be with me every minute of the day.
The vision day with Kid’s for Christ went very well indeed. I hope to work with them again. We also had a pastor stay at Elijah’s Cave. He is hoping to make it a monthly retreat. I have been working on how to promote Elijah’s Cave more.
I spent another day at Bethlehem Baptist working with an Executive Pastor and the Youth Pastor. It was a good time and we got through all that was needed. They are a good bunch to work with. I love their passion to honestly serve the Lord.
I spent time in meetings with the Senior Pastor of Greenlane Christian Fellowship. It is a large Pentecostal Church. I will be working with their full time pastoral staff early this year doing some training. PTL for this opportunity. I am hoping it will allow me to work with other Pentecostal churches.
Having had the marketing meeting in Wellington, I came home to work with the Board on marketing Caleb more effectively. There is much to consider and think through.
One of our Aussie grads from last year has wanted to get her husband to do the Leadership Course. The result has been that he and I have now been in discussion about doing a course in Western Australia. It looks promising. Along with a couple from NZ, I met with a leader from Myanmar looking at the possibility of some form of our Leadership course for pastors over there. Please pray.
I completed the prophetic prayer nights with Mangere Baptist getting a very good response. I enjoyed the opportunity to stretch beyond just the training things I do. God was good and was powerfully present.
My supervision of pastors and businessmen continued to near Christmas.
Getting people on next year’s leadership course in Nelson is a priority for me. It is going ok but we need your prayer to prompt many more pastors to come seeing their need. We continue making contacts and praying. As I said above, I am working with a guy named Robert to get a leadership course off the ground in Perth for Seventh Day pastors. It is hoped we will begin later this year or early next. I’m pushing for this year. I am continuing to work with the Waikato Anglicans who are very likely to do the Leadership course based in Taupo for two of their diocese. It would be amazing if this were to happen. To have three courses this year would be exciting and a challenge to get a team together for each. Please pray that all three courses go ahead.
In March I will be working with Greenlane Christian Fellowship over three days of training events. I will also be working with Bethlehem Baptist again on developing a two day leadership training course for lay leaders and part-timers who wouldn’t get to the CLC. This is an exciting development which needs much prayer. The team at Bethlehem are hoping to invite part time pastors from their neighbouring churches which I feel is a brilliant idea.
An engineer I supervise has invited me to join an organising group to help launch a new device for monitoring building integrity. It is an exciting opportunity with good benefits coming for Caleb.
This year marks a huge milestone for Caleb Leadership Ministries NZ. It is our 21st birthday come May. Praise the Lord for His guidance, grace and provision over this time. I praise Him too for your faithful prayer and financial support, it is truly the life blood of this strategic ministry. We are hoping to hold an afternoon celebration in Feb next year. We are looking at having a highly regarded person from the sporting world to be a key note speaker at this event. Please pray that he says yes.
I will be going to Indiana in late March for the ITA council meetings at a cost of $2300. I invite you to consider contributing to this cost so that I might fulfil my Vice-Chairman’s work on the Council.
The Booth Thanksgiving evening will be on Friday 17th Feb beginning at 6.30 with a BBQ. It will be at the Manurewa Baptist Church. See the ad here.
The family are doing pretty well. Tim has begun doing his bosses job in prep for him taking over her role later. Aimee has just got a new job within Whitcoulls as one of the book buyers for children’s books for all their shops.
My health is a bit gnarly. I twisted my right knee mid last year took a concrete pill then thought nothing of the injury. However, it now transpires that I have three blockages in the artery going behind my knee and down the calf. It’s not sure what they are. They don’t appear to be blood clots and the rest of the arteries seem to be clear so, the people aren’t sure what’s going on. Consequently I am seeing a specialist this Wednesday and would appreciate your prayer for God to heal rather than any operation that may be needed.

No light will shine, no Truth will be understood, no love will be experienced, no heart will be softened except through prayer. Without the groundwork being done in the spiritual realm through prayer it will be fruitless. Your prayers continue to be the key ingredient in providing conditions in which seeds that I am involved in planting can bring forth that fruit. So I feel very privileged to have you as part of my prayer team partnering in this dynamic Leadership ministry.
Every Blessing; Rex, Yvonne, Rachel & Jonny, Jeremy & Sakura, Tim & Aimee, Hannah.
